Dear Kindergarten Families,
We have music on Monday and Wednesdays. Please help your child to arrive on time so we are ready for music at 8:00. Music involved keeping the beat with rhythm stick and we learned a new song Peanut Butter.
Thank you to Ms. Nida for volunteering in our classroom this week.
Upcoming Field trip to the zoo on Monday June 10th. A HUGE THANK YOU to parent council for paying for this field trip for all of us! T
his will be an All Day field trip. Your students will be at school from 8:00 - 2:30. *We need volunteers for this field trip. If you have your police Clearance from the CBE police check program and are able to volunteer please let me know.
Thanks.
This week in math we introduced non-standard measurement. We used a variety of containers
( Thank you parents for bringing in a variety of containers!) to measure volume with sand. We will continue to explore this topic using volume, comparing one object to another on the balance scale and using other objects to measure length and width. Parents this is a fun activity to try at home. You can use pencils, pencil crayons, shoes, etc.
We worked on the number 8 this week and found various ways to add numbers together to make 8.
We have set up a camping centre that has been a huge success with the students. We have talked about how we cook over an open fire or take along a camp stove. We have the train centre and some creative designs for tracks have been built as well as using the large hollow blocks to build bridges and tunnels for the train to travel over and under. The light table, marble works, Lincoln Logs, puzzles, paint and arts and crafts are other centres that the students enjoy visiting and exploring how to build structures and design their art work.
This week we played belly kickball and we played Ship to Shore as well as a few racing games and Duck Duck Goose.
