Kindergarten EMJ

  January 8 - 12 Dear Kindergarten Families, We have had a very busy week.  Thank you for bringing in the amazing letter treasures for our word search letter hunt game.  The students have been so excited to share and tell about their treasures.    THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY JAN. 15th.    Our letter on Tuesday is "Pp."  Our Letter on Wednesday is "Ff."  Our letter on Thursday is "Ii", and our Letter on Friday is "Nn".   Happy Treasure hunting! Literacy: This week in literacy we shared the letter "Aa, Mm, Ss and Tt" treasures.  We sorted them in a variety of ways.  We also drew a picture of our treasure and then wrote one or more sentences about it.  We have some word cards on our word wall board for the students to hunt and find what they want to write about.  Some of the words are colour words, some are shape words others are descriptive words.  Our morning messages have been filled with new words that we have had fun learning and des

   December 4 - 7 Dear Kindergarten Families, Thank you for supporting our book fair.  Thank you so much to Mrs. Nida for helping volunteering in our classroom this week.  Our Winter Market was a huge success.  All the proceeds will be donated to the Calgary Food Bank.  Literacy: This week in literacy we read  The Gingerbread Man .  We are working on our Gingerbread book writing sentences and colouring one item per day in our booklets.   Math: This week in math we learned the song zero the hero and we did the number zero in our math number book. Centres: Tub toys, light table, blocks, playdoh, and the baking centre were  all visited by many students this week.  The highlight was our baking centre where we decorated and shared baking items with our friends in class.            Music: We continue to practice for our winter solstice concert.  We are singing Jingle Bells.
