January 8 - 12

Dear Kindergarten Families,

We have had a very busy week.  Thank you for bringing in the amazing letter treasures for our word search letter hunt game.  The students have been so excited to share and tell about their treasures.  

THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY JAN. 15th.  

Our letter on Tuesday is "Pp."  Our Letter on Wednesday is "Ff."  Our letter on Thursday is "Ii", and our Letter on Friday is "Nn".   Happy Treasure hunting!

Literacy:

This week in literacy we shared the letter "Aa, Mm, Ss and Tt" treasures.  We sorted them in a variety of ways.  We also drew a picture of our treasure and then wrote one or more sentences about it.  We have some word cards on our word wall board for the students to hunt and find what they want to write about.  Some of the words are colour words, some are shape words others are descriptive words. 

Our morning messages have been filled with new words that we have had fun learning and describing.  The five words we learned this week were: positive, curious, marvelous, surprise, and together.  Try to find a way to use these words this weekend.  

Math:

This week in math we looked for shapes and went on a treasure hunt around the school.  We found squares, rectangles, circles, triangles etc. 

Centres:

Space Centre, Lego, light table, blocks,  and Lite Brite were all visited by students this week.  The highlight was pretending to be astronauts and visiting various planets in space. We also love making the space station out of blocks.

Gym:

We played with hockey sticks and pucks. We learned how to keep the puck close to us and at the end we were able to shoot the puck to the benches. 

 Buddies:

Today we drew our treasure pictures and then had our buddies help us with our writing if we needed some support.  We then were able to read our writing to our buddies and our buddy teacher Ms. Flanigan.
