February 26 - March 1

Dear Kindergarten Families,

This week we had our swimming lessons at Canyon Meadows.  The students progressed so quickly.  They were so excited to go down the slides or jump off the diving board by the end of the week. 

A huge thank you to Ms. Nida, Ms. Jessica and Mr. Brent for volunteering this week.  Your dedication and help in the changing rooms was greatly appreciated by everyone.  Thank you to Ms. Stringer and Ms Guss for arranging and organizing this wonderful experience for our students.  

After discussing our week each day we learned that we loved the bus ride to and from the pool and we had lots of fun learning how to swim. 

Literacy:

This week in literacy we coloured, wrote and read a swimming book that we worked on.  We also made thank you cards for our swimming instructors. 

Math:

This week in math we continued working on number talks.  We are learning that there are many ways to represent a number.  We can write a numeral (3).  We can draw objects. We can use talley marks. We can write the name of the word (three). We are learning to add numbers together to get a sum.  

Centres:

At the Post Office centre we continued to have lots of fun writing on a variety of paper, stamping and making pictures and mail for our friends and family. The light table, blocks, lite Brite, Lego, sand table, cars and big blocks were centres that were visited by  the students this week.
