Sept. 6 - 9

 Dear Parents,

This week we worked on routines in our classroom.  We read stories,  The Kissing Hand, Have you Filled your Bucket Today?, Only One Me, and I Like Me.  

We coloured pictures, talked about how we can be bucket fillers in our classroom. ( this is a way to show kindness and caring.)  We drew a picture on our bucket to show one way we can be kind. 

We used glue and sand to make our names. 

We went to the gym and learned how to follow the leader, play games red light green light, What Time is it Mr. Wolf? and Duck Duck Goose.  

Ms. Dafoe came to our classroom and we learned new songs to sing.  She comes to our classroom on Tuesdays and Thursdays.


Upcoming dates:

Sept. 15th Picture day - individual pictures only 

Sept. 16th - red day, you can bring something red in your snack ( example: apple, red jello, raspberries, strawberries, etc.). You can also wear red this day, red shirt, red pants, red hat.  

Sept. 19th Terry Fox Run Day 

Sept. 21st Yellow Day you can bring something yellow in your snack ( example: apple,  jello, lemons,  bananas, etc.). You can also wear yellow this day, yellow shirt, etc. 

Sept. 22 Meet the Teacher Evening

Sept. 23 No School CBE instructional Day

Sept. 26th Truth and Reconciliation Week. ( Orange Shirt week) 

Sept. 30th No School 

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

 Dec. 12 - 16 Kindergarten News: Literacy: This week in Literacy we started reading our Twelve Day of Christmas books.  Each day we unwrap a new book and then read our story.  We have had lots of fun and laughs reading our new collection of books.  Thank you to  Ms. Tucker for wrapping and selecting our new books. We have also been helping Elfie, who leaves us a mixed up message every morning to unscramble.   I can learn to read messages from left to right and top to bottom.   I can learn about periods and capitals in morning messages and books.   Our Robert Munsch book this week and next week is Finding Christmas.  We had Mrs. Montgomery our Kindergarten Strategist visit us on Tuesday and read the story to us.  She also brought a game for us to play.  We have presents to hide then we need to give clues to a friend to find the presents we hid.  I can use prepositions to help my friends find the presents.  Example:  The present is under the table.   We continued working at our stations

  January 29 - February 2 Dear Kindergarten Families, Exciting News!  Kindergarten students will now have music with our music specialist Ms. Laney.  We have music first thing on Monday and Wednesdays.  Please help your child to arrive on time so we are ready for music at 8:00.   We have had a very busy week.  Thank you for bringing in the amazing letter treasures for our word search letter hunt game.  The students have been so excited to share and tell about their treasures.    Our letter on Monday is "Rr."  Our letter on Tuesday is "Ll".   Our Letter on Wednesday is "Ww".   Our letter on Thursday is "Jj", and our Letter on Friday is "Yy".   Happy Treasure hunting!   March 11 - 15 Dear Kindergarten Families, We have music on Monday and Wednesdays.  Please help your child to arrive on time so we are ready for music at 8:00.  This week music was cancelled on Wednesday. Thank you to Ms. Nida for helping in our classroom this week. She played number Bingo with a few of the students and had time to play at a variety of centres, as well as helping with many tasks.  We have had a very busy week.  We learned new math games using cards. We read factual and fiction stories about animals to support our Vet Centre.  We shared puppet shows with our friends and some of them were recorded.   Literacy: This week in literacy we read about different kinds of jobs veterinarians have.
