Dear Kindergarten Families,

Thank you so much to everyone who attended our open house on Thursday September 22. It was wonderful to see you interact with your children in our kindergarten class.

This week in kindergarten we played at a variety of centres.   Our Tim Horton's Restaurant centre  opened up at the house centre this week.

We also began working at work stations this week.  The students rotated through five different stations.

Station 1

Cutting - I can cut using a variety of scissors



Station 2

Drawing - I can draw a picture to represent the letter of the week.  The letter this week was  'Aa'.


Station 3

Printing - I can print my name with a capital letter followed by lowercase letters.  I can print the letter of the week.  The letter this week was  'Aa'.



Station 4 

Fine Motor - I can pick up objects using tweezers



Station 5 

Math - I can explore with colours to make patterns.


We met our grade six buddies and ran in the Terry Fox Run on Tuesday with our buddies.  We had so much fun.  We are looking forward to seeing our buddies soon. 






Library day is Wednesday.  Please help your child return their book each week so they can choose a new book to share with you every Wednesday.

Gym:  This week in gym we practiced running for our Terry Fox run.  We ran outside with our buddies on Tuesday for the Terry Fox run.  We began using balls in gym and started practicing bouncing a ball.

 Dec. 12 - 16 Kindergarten News: Literacy: This week in Literacy we started reading our Twelve Day of Christmas books.  Each day we unwrap a new book and then read our story.  We have had lots of fun and laughs reading our new collection of books.  Thank you to  Ms. Tucker for wrapping and selecting our new books. We have also been helping Elfie, who leaves us a mixed up message every morning to unscramble.   I can learn to read messages from left to right and top to bottom.   I can learn about periods and capitals in morning messages and books.   Our Robert Munsch book this week and next week is Finding Christmas.  We had Mrs. Montgomery our Kindergarten Strategist visit us on Tuesday and read the story to us.  She also brought a game for us to play.  We have presents to hide then we need to give clues to a friend to find the presents we hid.  I can use prepositions to help my friends find the presents.  Example:  The present is under the table.   We continued working at our stations

  January 29 - February 2 Dear Kindergarten Families, Exciting News!  Kindergarten students will now have music with our music specialist Ms. Laney.  We have music first thing on Monday and Wednesdays.  Please help your child to arrive on time so we are ready for music at 8:00.   We have had a very busy week.  Thank you for bringing in the amazing letter treasures for our word search letter hunt game.  The students have been so excited to share and tell about their treasures.    Our letter on Monday is "Rr."  Our letter on Tuesday is "Ll".   Our Letter on Wednesday is "Ww".   Our letter on Thursday is "Jj", and our Letter on Friday is "Yy".   Happy Treasure hunting!   March 11 - 15 Dear Kindergarten Families, We have music on Monday and Wednesdays.  Please help your child to arrive on time so we are ready for music at 8:00.  This week music was cancelled on Wednesday. Thank you to Ms. Nida for helping in our classroom this week. She played number Bingo with a few of the students and had time to play at a variety of centres, as well as helping with many tasks.  We have had a very busy week.  We learned new math games using cards. We read factual and fiction stories about animals to support our Vet Centre.  We shared puppet shows with our friends and some of them were recorded.   Literacy: This week in literacy we read about different kinds of jobs veterinarians have.
