Kindergarten News Nov. 14 - 18

This week in kindergarten we continued learning about healthy foods.  We created an art picture with our buddies on Friday.

We were invited to watch our buddies and other students from our school put on a musical production to celebrate our Fall Showcase on Thursday morning.   Kindergarten was excited and enjoyed the demonstration of singing and using instruments listening to poems and listening to the older students sharing during the assembly.

Literacy:

In literacy this week we read the story So Much Stuff  by: Robert Munsch.  We read the book on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  I can talk about my favourite part of the story with a friend. On Tuesday, I can vote for my favourite part of the story and help draw a class picture to represent who the story was about, where this part of the story took place and what this part of the story was about.  I can illustrate my favourite part of the story on Wednesday making sure I include who is in the story, where the story happened and what happened in my favourite part of the story.

Math:

This week in math we used playing cards to play the game memory.  We had to match the same numbers.  Some of us learned how to play the card game war which is where the person with the highest card wins the opponents card.  If the same number is displayed we lay down three cards and turn over one more card and the highest card claims all 5 cards from the opponent with the lowest number.

Centres:

We continued to dress and feed the dolls in our housekeeping centre and brought healthy food to share with our others and our dolls in the classroom.  We built a variety of structures at blocks, the light table, using Lego and other tub toys.  We made healthy food from play doh at our play doh centre.
