Dear Kindergarten Families,

Thank you for sharing your adorable and clever costumes.  We were able to share our costumes with the entire school at our Halloween Parade in the gym.  All the classes in our school also shared their costumes.  It was a lot of fun.  We also had a chance to visit our buddies in their classroom upstairs on Friday and they read their stories that they wrote about Halloween.  We even had a chance to play some computer games with our buddies.

This week in Kindergarten we had new centres to explore.  We added foam numbers and letters to our block centre.  We changed our Haunted House centre into a house centre adding dolls from a variety of nations.  We are learning how to dress, feed and take care of our dolls in the house centre.  The light table, play doh, sand, tub toys and the Smart Board are still part of our centre rotations.

Stations: We continued with our stations from last week.  

Station 1: I can learn to count pictures and find the numeral and print the correct numeral or match the number by drawing the same amount of circles.

Stations 2:  I can follow directions and colour a picture.

Station 3: I can practice the letters I have learned so far using Wikki Stix.

Station 4:  I can practice printing the letter "Ff".

Station 5: I can draw a picture in my journal that starts with the letter "Ff".

Our sweet Educational Assistant Charlie is back with us until the end of the school year.

 Dec. 12 - 16 Kindergarten News: Literacy: This week in Literacy we started reading our Twelve Day of Christmas books.  Each day we unwrap a new book and then read our story.  We have had lots of fun and laughs reading our new collection of books.  Thank you to  Ms. Tucker for wrapping and selecting our new books. We have also been helping Elfie, who leaves us a mixed up message every morning to unscramble.   I can learn to read messages from left to right and top to bottom.   I can learn about periods and capitals in morning messages and books.   Our Robert Munsch book this week and next week is Finding Christmas.  We had Mrs. Montgomery our Kindergarten Strategist visit us on Tuesday and read the story to us.  She also brought a game for us to play.  We have presents to hide then we need to give clues to a friend to find the presents we hid.  I can use prepositions to help my friends find the presents.  Example:  The present is under the table.   We continued working at our stations

  January 29 - February 2 Dear Kindergarten Families, Exciting News!  Kindergarten students will now have music with our music specialist Ms. Laney.  We have music first thing on Monday and Wednesdays.  Please help your child to arrive on time so we are ready for music at 8:00.   We have had a very busy week.  Thank you for bringing in the amazing letter treasures for our word search letter hunt game.  The students have been so excited to share and tell about their treasures.    Our letter on Monday is "Rr."  Our letter on Tuesday is "Ll".   Our Letter on Wednesday is "Ww".   Our letter on Thursday is "Jj", and our Letter on Friday is "Yy".   Happy Treasure hunting!   March 11 - 15 Dear Kindergarten Families, We have music on Monday and Wednesdays.  Please help your child to arrive on time so we are ready for music at 8:00.  This week music was cancelled on Wednesday. Thank you to Ms. Nida for helping in our classroom this week. She played number Bingo with a few of the students and had time to play at a variety of centres, as well as helping with many tasks.  We have had a very busy week.  We learned new math games using cards. We read factual and fiction stories about animals to support our Vet Centre.  We shared puppet shows with our friends and some of them were recorded.   Literacy: This week in literacy we read about different kinds of jobs veterinarians have.
